Biomechania - Ranya Sarakbi

Ranya Sarakbi is a self-taught painter and sculptor. Her work, over the years, has resulted in the build-up of different collections of paintings, objects, wearable ornaments, and sculptures. Ranya currently lives and works between Beirut and Milan.

She shows an exhibition entitled "Biomechania" until January 23, 2013 at the Beirut Art Center. It's about the exploration of the role of mechanics in biological systems.

Don't miss the impressive snake named 'Ouroboros' and inspired by the ancient symbol depicting a serpent eating its tail and representing the cycle of life.
Made of over 16,000 single pieces of bronze for a total length of 11 meters.

 Ranya Sarakbi est un peintre et sculpteur autodidacte. Son travail, au fil des ans, a permis l'accumulation de différentes collections de peintures, objets, ornements vestimentaires, et des sculptures. Ranya vit et travaille entre Beyrouth et Milan.

Elle montre une exposition intitulée "Biomechania" jusqu'au 23 Janvier 2013 au Beirut Art Center. Il s'agit de l'exploration du rôle de la mécanique dans les systèmes biologiques.

 Just strolling through the streets of Achrafieh to be surprised at a street corner by a Corvette Stingray C3. That's what I love in Beirut.

Il suffit de se balader dans les rues d'Achrafieh pour se laisser surprendre au coin d'une rue par une Corvette Stingray C3. Voilà ce que j'adore à Beyrouth.

Liberty Tower

End of the workday. Everyone headed for the freedom, even the boy whose job is to recover the cans and plastic bottles in the trash.

Fin de la journée de travail. Tout le monde file vers la liberté, même ce garçon dont le boulot est de récupérer les canettes en métal et bouteilles en plastiques dans les poubelles.

The Egg

In the heart of the city is a symbol of the Beirut.
It was designed by the architect Joseph-Philippe Karam and was build between 1965 and 1968 as a multiuse shopping center, office building , and a movie theater affectionately called The Egg.
I don't need to tell you why.
Sold by Solidere compagny to Abu Dhabi Investment House in 2005, it has been regularly threatened with destruction since.

Au coeur de la ville il est un symbole de Beyrouth.
Il a été conçu par l'architecte Joseph-Philippe Karam et a été construit entre 1965 et 1968 en tant que centre commercial polyvalent, immeuble de bureaux et une salle de cinéma affectueusement appelé "L'Oeuf".
Je n'ai pas besoin de vous dire pourquoi.

A break away from the city

In Beirut, during summer time, the temperature is too high most of time.
People have this habit to leave the oven to find the fresh air in the mountains. Lots of them own a family house over there.
That's exactly what we did !
It was perfect to take our minds off things.
Thank to Lamia and her parents for hosting.

A Beyrouth, pendant la période estivale, la température est trop élevée la plupart du temps.
Les gens ont l'habitude de quitter le four pour trouver de l'air frais dans les montagnes. Beaucoup d'entre eux possèdent une maison de famille là-bas.
C'est exactement ce que nous avons fait!
C'était parfait pour nous distraire les idées.
